Veneers Are One Option To Help Improve Your Smile

If you aren't happy with the way your teeth look because they look yellow or are just damaged, you may want to talk to your dentist to see if they can help you with some solutions that will let you have the smile that you want. One of those solutions may be veneers.

Veneers

Veneers are actually a thin slice of one material that is used to cover some kind of surface in order to disguise the underlying surface. You are probably familiar with veneers from furniture. It works the same way for your teeth. Your dentist can adhere a thin layer of material that can cover up the damage or discoloration of your own teeth. When your dentist decides to give you veneers, there are different options that they can choose from.

Porcelain

One material available to your dentist is porcelain. This is a special dental porcelain that is designed to be very strong and durable, even in the thin strips that are used in veneers in order to cover your teeth. If your doctor chooses to use porcelain, they will take a mold of your teeth to get the right shape. Then you and they will come up with the appropriate color for the veneers. You don't want to go too white because it could look unnatural. Your dentist will be able to guide you towards the correct color.

Once the mold has been taken and the color has been chosen, your dentist will send out the molds so that the veneers can be can be made on the molds so that they will match your teeth. When the lab has finished making them, you will go back to your dentist and they will put them on your teeth. Your dentist will slightly rough up the surface of your teeth so that the dental adhesive will stick. Then your new veneers will be placed on your teeth, and you will have a beautiful new smile.

Resin

Another option is to use a dental resin. The process to get resin veneers is similar to getting porcelain veneers. However, it is a quicker process. That's because your dentist can build the veneers up directly on your teeth. They will still be thin since the dentist will build them a little at a time. If the veneer is too thick at the end, then your doctor will be able to shave the veneer down to the right thickness.

If you aren't happy with the way that your teeth look, there are cosmetic dentistry options. One of those options is to get veneers.
